uEFI System Firmware Update Package (SFUP) Installation and Operation Instructions --- Supported Products --- Intel(R) Server Board S2600CW Product Family Released - Dec 21, 2014 ********************************************************************************** This update package includes the following pre-production system software updates: System BIOS - R01.01.0005 ME Firmware - 03.00.07.114 BMC Firmware - 01.07.6909 FRUSDR - 1.05 Important NOTES: *** Advisory Note *** These system software update instructions are intended to be performed on pre-production SILVER level Intel "Kennedy Pass" server systems only. Server boards with a PBA number ending in -1xx or Systems that have a product code ending in "APP" are NOT supported and should not be updated with the system software provided in this update package. Server board PBA numbers can be found on a white sticker affixed to the top side of the server board. - All the updates provided in this package are uEFI based. To run these updates, you must boot the system to the embedded uEFI shell and then access the USB flash drive or hard disk containing the system software updates. The embedded uEFI shell can be access via the BIOS Setup Utility or via the Boot Menu accessed during system POST. - The current BIOS, Firmware, and FRUSDR revisions are all considered pre-production. Development and validation of the system software stack is still on going. Additional updates will be posted as they become available. The software stack included in this update package is being provided and should be used for testing/validation purposes only. All issues encountered using this software stack should be reported back to Intel as soon as possible for investigation and correction. ************************************************************************************* SYSTEM HARDWARE and SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS ************************************************************************************* The content of this update package is used to update the System level software stack for the following Intel Server Products only: Intel(R) Server Board S2600CW Product Family with PBA# xxxxxx-30x To update the system software stack to the versions included in this update package, the system software stack currently loaded on the target server system MUST meet the following or the update will fail: - BIOS - 01.01.0003 or later Version - ME Firmware - 03.00.06.274 or later Version - BMC Firmware - 01.05.6802 or later Version - FRUSDR - 1.00 or later **** If the system does not currently meet the above system software requirements, you MUST download a previously posted System Update Package (SUP) and update the system to the software revisions described above before updating the system to the software stack included in this package **** ************************************************************************************* Update Procedure ************************************************************************************* - Unzip the contents of the update package and copy all files to a folder on a USB flash drive - Insert the USB flash drive to any available USB port on the server system to be updated - Boot the Server to the uEFI shell. This can be accessed via the BIOS setup utility during POST or via the Boot Menu accessed during POST. - Run the command "map -r" in the uEFI shell to mount the USB flash drive - Run the command "fs0:" to change folders to the USB flash drive. The USB flash drive may also mount to fs1: depending on other installed devices. The number of "fs#" is dependent on the result of command "map -r" - Change folders to the folder holding the update package files - Run the "Startup.nsh" script file to start updating all the firmware and BIOS updates - The FRUSDR utility must be run seperately after the rest of the software stack has been updated, and after the the system has been rebooted. Follow the on-screen instructions provided while running the STARTUP.NSH script file. NOTE: The System BIOS update process in this package will update both the primary and secondary (BIOS Backup) images of the BIOS. The secondary image will automatically load after after the primary BIOS has been loaded and the system is rebooted. During the first system reboot, while the secondary BIOS is being updated, the display screen will be blank for approximately 60- 90 seconds. Do NOT power off or reboot the system during this time. When the update is finished, a "BIOS Update Complete" message will be displayed and the system will resume its normal POST process. ----- Verifying updates - After the final update has completed successfully, Reboot the system - During POST, hit the Key when prompted to access the BIOS Setup Utility - From the BIOS Setup Utility main menu, Hit the key to load BIOS Defaults - At the MAIN menu verify the BIOS revision is correct - Move cursor to the SERVER MANAGEMENT Menu - Move cursor down to the SYSTEM INFORMATION Option and hit Enter - Verify the BMC Firmware revision is correct - Verify the SDR revision is correct - Verify the ME Firmware revision is correct - Hit the F10 Key to save changes and Exit The System Software Update is Complete. *** Warning: *** !! Do NOT interrupt or reboot or remove power from your system during the update process. Doing so may render your system inoperable. !! !! Do not attempt to down rev the system software once loaded on to the system. Doing so may render your system inoperable. !!
